  • A pale gold silk scroll inviting HRH The Prince of Wales to the XIX Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, 3 - 14 October 2010. Mounted purple and gold paisley patterned fabric with floral motifs in gold, pink, green and blue, with wooden stretchers at top and bottom, and two tassels formed of sequins and beads on either side at the top. Held in a gold fabric-covered box.

    This scroll bears an invitation to the XIX Commonwealth Games in New Delhi, which took place between 3 and 14 October 2010. It was presented to HM King Charles III when Prince of Wales by the Organising Committee for the Games. The prince attended as representative of Queen Elizabeth II, who was then Head of the Commonwealth, and read aloud her Baton Relay message at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. This was the first time India had hosted the Games, and involved 4352 athletes from 36 different nations and territories – making it the largest Commonwealth Games to date.
