Ivory statuette of Henry VIII shown standing and holding an orb and a mace. He wears typical Henrician clothing, with a garter on the left leg. The statuette stands on an ivory base, in turn on a wooden drum with an ivory band around the middle with carved inscription.
This ivory statuette of Henry VIII shown standing, and holding an orb and a mace is thought to be the work of the English nineteenth century sculptor and ivory carver Richard Cockle Lucas.
It was presented to Queen Alexandra, consort of King Edward VII, by Edward Holden in 1908. After Queen Alexandra’s death it was sent from Windsor Castle to Hampton Court Palace in May 1926.Provenance
