A gold octagonal box enamelled with hunting scenes and openwork pattern of flowers. The hinged lid is further embellished with inlaid diamonds arranged to represent flowers. The base of the box is enamelled with red flowers on a white ground and opens like a lid, disclosing a bevel-edged mirror surrounded by an enamelled gold border. Hunting, or shikare, was a popular Indian court entertainment and often inspired imagery used to decorate courtly objects such as this box.
