A sword or kastane with a curved gilt bronze blade.The horn hilt and knuckleguard chased and both end in makara or dragons' heads wth ruby eyes. The silver scabbard chased with floral decoration and filigree work, with a scrolled tip. This type of sword was associated with the royal courts of Kandy in Ceylon (modern-day Sri Lanka), where the workshops were known for their technical skills in metalworking.

Presented to King Edward VII, when Prince of Wales, during his tour of India in 1875-76 by Christoffel Henricues Dias Bandaranaike, Mudaliyar of Siyane Korale East in Ceylon [Sri Lanka].
