Illuminated vellum manuscript fragment cut from a Bolognese copy of Gratian's Decretum, a collection of canon law compiled in the 12th century.
The dinner and seduction of a virgin; her betrothal to her ravisher.
These fragments came into the Royal Collection in a red morocco album labelled 'Drawings' some time between 1814 and 1854.
