Baron Albert von Sack (d.1828)
A Narrative of a voyage to Surinam; of a residence there during 1805, 1806 and 1807; and of the author's return to Europe by the way of North America / by Baron Albert von Sack 1810

Sack travelled to Suriname in 1805, a hundred years after the publication of Maria Sibylla Merian's Metamorphosis Insectorum Surinamensium, and published an account of his journey in 1810. He describes the challenges of entomological research as well as its rewards. As this section of his text makes clear, he had read Merian’s book and was eager to explore her conclusion in the case of the Flannel Moth Caterpillar (above).
