A pair of circular steel throwing quoits (rings), or chukra, sharpened on the outer edge and overlaid in gold with chevron and lozenge motifs. Quoits are associated with Sikh armed fighters known as Akalis or Nihangs, and were worn on a tall conical turban called bunga dastar.
Provenance
Presented to King Edward VII, when Prince of Wales, during his tour of India in 1875-76. The donor of this gift is not recorded however it was most probably presented to the Prince during his stay in Lahore from 18–24 January 1876.
