A miniature illuminated manuscript of the Japu of Guru Nanak written in Punjabi, in Gurmukhi script. The text is a Sikh prayer often recited early in the morning and is the opening text of the Sikh scripture the Adi Granth.
The small text is written on 242 folios, 5 lines to a page, with each page bordered with a gold octagonal sunburst. The binding comprises green velvet covers embroidered with metal threads and sequins.Provenance
