A large plate with low, rounded well and flat, spreading rim; low foot. Decorated with a landscape with a peasant with hoe and basket on a river bank, thatched huts and pavilions, a large pine tree, and a silver-topped mountain beyond; the design built up in takamakie, a large rock being studded with flakes of gold and silver; the well plain and the rim decorated with a band of lozenges in ovals.

Provenance
Possibly acquired by George IV. Formerly at the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, and probably sent to Kensington Palace in June 1848: ‘seven large black japan dishes, mainly with landscapes and measuring from twelve to fourteen inches [30.5–35.6 cm]’ (1829A, p. 52).
