Pair of plates with low well and flat, spreading rim. In the centre of RCIN 11198.1, a landscape with thatched huts under pine trees and plants growing by a shore, with a large rock in takamakie, scattered with flakes of gold and silver, and mountains beyond; the well plain and the rim decorated with lozenge pattern. RCIN 11198.2 with a similar design, but with three flying birds.

Provenance
Possibly acquired by George IV. Formerly at the Royal Pavilion, Brighton, and probably sent to Kensington Palace in June 1848: ‘seven large black japan dishes, mainly with landscapes and measuring from twelve to fourteen inches [30.5–35.6 cm]’ (1829A, p. 52). Recorded in the Privy Purse Corridor at Buckingham Palace in 1911 (BP 1911 IX p.269).
