Compotier carré (part of a service) 1790

Sèvres porcelain factory
Part of a service 1790

-
Soft paste Sèvres porcelain square shaped fruit dishes. Creamy yellow ground painted with trails and bunches of lilac on white ground edged with blue lines and narrow borders of stylised foliate trails in blue and mauve.
Provenance
These fruit dishes are probably survivors from a service of 79 pieces which were recorded in the Carlton House Inventory of 1792. This service was almost certainly sold to George IV by Dominique Daguerre in 1790.
