A large blue-and-white Chinese porcelain jar with cover. Ovoid potiche, with short, broad neck with reinforced lip, chamfered foot and unglazed base. The low, domed cover with an infitting flange and knob finial. Painted in greyish blue is a formalised lotus scroll with a border of lotus petals below, and borders of key-fret and pointed petals on the shoulder and neck; the cover decorated to match but in a paler underglaze blue.
