Tito Vespasiano Strozzi belonged to the Strozzi family who were one of the most prominent families in Florence until their exile from the city in 1434 following conflict with the Medici. Settling in Ferrara, Tito studied humanist teachings and began to write a series of poems and sonnets. His son, Ercole was also a poet, known for dedicating his poem La caccia to his friend Lucrezia Borgia. In 1508, Ercole was found dead in suspicious circumstances in Ferrara. This edition of the poems of Tito and Ercole Strozzi was published by Aldus Manutius at Venice in 1513.
