Harpocration was a Greek grammarian from Alexandria, probably writing in the 2nd century CE. The present work, more usually titled Λεξικὸν τῶν Δέκα Ῥητόρων (Lexicon of the Ten Orators) records phrases used by, and people and events mentioned by the Ten Orators, a canon created, probably in Alexandria, of the top orators and lexicographers of the classical era (5th-4th century BCE). The list included Demosthenes, Isocrates and Aeschines. Harpocration’s work also included material derived from other authors whose works are now otherwise lost.
