After the extravagance of the Coronation of his brother George IV in 1821, it was rumoured that William IV wished to do away with the ceremony altogether. In the end, the King opted for a more modest affair. Among the few concessions made was the composition of a new Coronation Anthem by Thomas Attwood. This printed score was probably presented to William for the Royal Library.
Provenance
Probably acquired by William IV.
