Binding description
Half leather binding in alum tawed pigskin with marbled sides (possibly 18thy century), which may be recycled. Spine appears to be stained darker; laced on boards with five raised bands; gilt title. Edges gilded.Provenance
At the Dominican monastery of Schwäbisch-Gmünd in southern Germany since 1485. Collected by Georg Kloss in the 19th century; probably lot 2012 in the Kloss sale, apparently unsold, then lot 485 in the second Kloss sale, going for 8 shillings to White. At some point in this volume’s modern history, the Donatus moralisatus was inserted; this is odd as it is listed in the old manuscript contents list. A copy of the Donatus was in the same Kloss sale, 4 shillings to White, and therefore it may correspond to the Donatus inserted here.
