    Bibliographic description

Chancery paper folio. [238] leaves (wants f.78). Some hand-painted initials and paragraph marks in red ink. Thumb tags, now missing, marked the beginning of individual works.

    Binding description

Half leather binding in alum tawed pigskin with marbled sides (possibly 18thy century), which may be recycled. Spine appears to be stained darker; laced on boards with five raised bands; gilt title. Edges gilded.

    Provenance

At the Dominican monastery of Schwäbisch-Gmünd in southern Germany since 1485. Collected by Georg Kloss in the 19th century; probably lot 2012 in the Kloss sale, apparently unsold, then lot 485 in the second Kloss sale, going for 8 shillings to White. At some point in this volume’s modern history, the Donatus moralisatus was inserted; this is odd as it is listed in the old manuscript contents list. A copy of the Donatus was in the same Kloss sale, 4 shillings to White, and therefore it may correspond to the Donatus inserted here.
