Binding of yellow silk, embroidered with silk thread depicting dragons, flowers and waves, with embroidered text in Manchu and Chinese script.
The document is a manuscript in Chinese and Manchu script, dating from 1911. It is a letter from Emperor Puyi (r. 1908-12 & 1917) congratulating King George V and Queen Mary on their coronation. Puyi was the last Emperor of China and the twelfth and final ruler of the Qing dynasty. -
