De mandacatione spirituali 1630

Contemporary brown mottled calf binding, both boards and spine re-backed in light brown calf. Design identical on left and back boards: outer border consisting of a single gold-tooled fillet surmounted by a double blind-tooled fillet, overlapping at the corners to create a cross-hatch design; inner border of the same, with vase-like flowers gold-tooled in each of the four outer corners; four corner tools with floral, swirling and architectural decoration on the inside corners; Charles I's coat of arms gold-tooled in the centre, surrounded by the garter, surmounted by a crown and flanked on both sides with busts of two beasts and foliage. Spine divided into seven compartments with raised bands; fillet line gold-tooled on each side of the bands and central diamond-shape flower gold-tooled in the centre of each compartment. Modern ties now affixed to holes on both boards, but probable that these boards originally contained holes for contemporary ties. | 34.5 x 4.0 cm (book measurement (inventory)) | RCIN 1058816
