James Anderson was a Scottish gentleman farmer, botanist, essayist and scholar with opinions on a vast range of subjects. The Bee was a literary, scientific and political miscellany, which he began to publish in instalments from 1790. His wrote on agricultural and economic matters especially, he also penned the ‘Dictionary’. ‘Winds and Monsoons’, ‘Language’ and ‘Sound’ articles to the first edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica.
