In 1750, Walter Harte became a prebend at Windsor and was given the rectory of Creed in Cornwall. Eight years later, he was given land at nearby St Austell and St Blazey. Harte began cultivating the area and wrote about his experiences and his correspondence with other farmers. This he published in this book, Essays on Husbandry, in 1764. The second edition was printed in 1770.
