Thomas Boreman was an eighteenth-century bookseller specialising in literature for children. Little is known of his life but he was active between 1730 and 1743. This book, Three hundred animals, was the first of his works, first printed in 1730. Boreman’s books were popular until the nineteenth century. They were affordable, featuring cheap woodcuts and the text consisting mainly of passages collected from the works of other writers.
