The Lancashire farrier, Henry Bracken is best known for this book Farriery Improved, or, a compleat treatise upon the art of farriery, first published in 1737 and reissued in two volumes the following year. This copy is of a new edition, printed in 1789. The work was a popular treatise on the care of horses based on Bracken’s first-hand experiences.
