Sir John Lubbock was a British archaeologist and amateur naturalist. He is perhaps best known for his research into the stone age, coining the terms ‘Palaeolithic’ and ‘Neolithic’.
In natural history, Lubbock took a great interest in the relationship between insects and flowering plants. This book is his study into the social behaviour of hymenoptera, an order of insects that includes bees, ants and wasps. -
