All ten volumes (RCIN 1055060-69) tooled with identical design. Contemporary marbled brown calf binding, with gold-tooling on both boards and spine. In the centre of both boards, the arms of William III and Mary II (England, France, Scotland and Ireland quartered on an escutcheon of pretence billetty a lion rampant [Nassau]) surrounded by the garter and surmounted by a crown. Spine divided into six compartments by raised bands, each tooled with a floral and vine roll. Second compartment contains an additional piece of red leather, surrounded by a double fillet border and tooled with the title: ‘OEVVRES D’HORACE’; third compartment contains an additional piece of black leather, surrounded by a double fillet border and tooled: ‘TOM I’ [or the appropriate volume number], underscored by a dotted roll, followed by ‘PARIS 1691’. All other compartments tooled with double fillet border, swirling vine corner tools and a diamond-shaped sprouting flower tool in the centre. Vine and flower roll on head and tail of spine.
