Albert Edward, who would later become King Edward VII, was christened on 25 January 1842. He was the second child of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, and their first son. At the banquet given in honour of his christening were guests including his grandmother, the Duchess of Kent, and the King of Prussia, who was one of his godparents.
