4to. : [34] p. One of three Reformation texts bound in a composite volume.
This pamphlet contains the text of a sermon given by Justus Menius (1499-1558) at the funeral of Friedrich Myconius (8 April 1546 at the Augustinerkloster in Gotha). Myconius was a German theologian, reformer, and close friend of Martin Luther. It was in Myconius’ home in Gotha that Luther had dictated his famous epitaph—Pestis eram vivus, moriens tua mors ero Papa ('In life I was your plague, Pope; in death I will be your death')—when he believed himself to be dying in 1537.
