An English translation of a Chinese story from the Ming Dynasty.
This was the first published translation of Robert Thom, a Chinese translator based in Canton (modern day Guangzhou) who used Sloth as a nom de plume. He worked for the trading house Jardine, Matheson & Co. and published several books for English students of the Chinese language.Provenance
