This volume describes and depicts the ceremonies that took place during the coronation of Louis XVI in Reims on 11th June 1775. It begins with a history of the Kings of France from the time of Clovis, before detailing the various stages of Louis' coronation. The descriptions are accomanied by double-page plates of the ceremony in Reims Cathedral, as well as the festive dinner taking place after the coronation with Marie Antoinette in attendance on the small balcony above the room. These are followed by a large fold-out plan of the city of Reims, as well as a series of costume plates illustrating three costumes for the king and the attire of notable members of his court such as the Duke of Normandy, the Duke of Burgundy, and the Master of Ceremonies.
The volume is bound in red goatskin with the arms of Louis XVI in the centre of each cover and fleurs-de-lis in each of the corners and on the spine.
