An English translation of the Tarikh-i Firishta, a history of the Muslim rulers of India up to the early 17th century, written in Persian at the court of Bijapur by Muhammad Qasim Firishta (1560-1620).
The translator, John Briggs (1785–1875), was an officer in the East India Company and his publication includes a comparative chronology of events in Europe and India. The term 'Mohamedan' used in the title of this work was commonly used in European literature to refer to Muslims or wider Islamic culture. It is seen my many Muslims as offensive and has since fallen out of use. -
