The author of this book on the discovery of gold in Australia was responsible for starting a gold rush which brought thousands of miners and prospectors to the country in the search for their fortune. The rush resulted in a period of huge prosperity in Victoria, and the city of Melbourne soon became the most populous city in Australia.
