An 1826 English translation of the Tuzuk-i Baburi, the autobiography of Emperor Babur, the founder of the Mughal Empire, originally written in Chagatai Turkish. The text was prepared from the 16th century Persian translation, known as the Baburnamah. The translator, William Erskine, was a Scottish-born scholar employed by the East India Company between 1804 and 1823. His work was largely based on an earlier translation by John Leyden, formerly Professor of Hindustani in Calcutta.
