The Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II on 2 June 1953 was televised by the BBC allowing millions of people to watch the ceremony from their own homes for the first time. This is the Order of Service used by the Queen on the day. Following in the tradition of her predecessors, she signed it: ‘I used this book at my Coronation. Elizabeth R. June 2nd 1953’. Queen Elizabeth II then sent the book to the Royal Library on 22 June 1953.
