A depiction of Krishna, the eighth avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu. According to Hindu belief, he came to earth as the embodiment of love and compassion. In this illustration Yashoda, his foster mother, bends to pick up the young child Krishna who is wearing a cow herder's cloak.
