A depiction of Rama, the seventh avatar of the Hindu god Vishnu who takes the form of a prince. According to Hindu belief he came to earth as the embodiment of virtue and chivalry.
Rama and his wife Sita sit enthroned facing Rama’s brother Lakshman who holds a bow and two arrows. Standing behind them is Rama’s companion Hanuman. In the background is the island of Sri Lanka.
