Yellow-hammer bird, 17th century.
Painting of a yellow-hammer bird facing right on a small branch against a plain background. A stem in leaf and bud protrudes to the right and a strip of pale blue sky has been painted above.
verso:
European lady, c. 1700.
Oval miniature of a firangi (i.e. European) woman with long black ringlets wearing a gold hat and diaphanous garment against a bright green background. She wears pearl, ruby and emerald jewellery, and has painted nails. In her left hand she holds a jewel-encrusted flask hand and a shallow cup in her right. The miniature is surrounded by a panel of gold arabesque decoration.
