recto:
Mughal Ladies visiting a yogini, late 18th century.
On a moonlit night, an ash-smeared yogini sits in front of her hut on a tiger skin holding her japa mala (prayer beads). Two kneeling women present an offering to her attendant. Behind them is a small lingam, a representation of the Hindu god Shiva.
verso:
Pigeons, 18th century.
Painting of male and female black and white pigeons against a pale yellow background beside a terracotta dovecote. The male on the left appears to chase the female. A very similar 17th century painting of the same image in reverse is ascribed to Mansur from which a number of copies were made. The grass and sky are later additions.
