recto:
Yogini and companions, early 18th century.
On a cliff edge under a tree by a lake at sunset, a yogini and her two male companions listen to another yogini play the sarangi. The yogini on the left is seated upon a black buck skin with a yoga patta (meditation band) around her knees and her hand resting on a short crutch. The yogi in a purple turban and patchwork robe watches on as the ash-smeared yogi looks out of the picture towards the viewer. A procession moves along the lake shore in the distance.
verso:
Black buck, early 18th century.
Painting in monochrome of a black buck wearing a tasselled harness and collar facing left against a pale landscape. The tuffs of grass and flowering plants in the foreground are later additions.
