A black dumba ram, late 17th century.
A companion piece to the painting on the previous folio (31v, RCIN 1005069.ag): a depiction of the same breed ram of facing right wearing a leather collar.
The ground and sky are later additions.
verso:
Saint Rabia of Basra, late 18th century.
Painting of Saint Rabia of Basra and her attendant kneeling in prayer facing a tree in a moon-lit landscape. They share a white prayer rug with strings of prayer beads placed in front of both.
Rabia of Basra or, Rabia al-Adawiyya, was an 8th century female Sufi saint and poet who, having been freed from slavery, led a life of poverty and self-denial.
