Portrait of Khalilullah Khan, c.1630-50
Khalilullah Khan (d.1662) was a prominent military officer during Shah-Jahan's reign and allied himself to Awrangzeb in the battle for succession. Here he wears a long muslin jama embroidered with flowers and holds a pink rose in his right hand, the other rests upon his long straight-bladed (firangi) sword
