Ala al-Dawlah Simnani was a famous mystic of the Ilkhanid period. Here he is depicted as an old man with a long white beard and large round turban holding audience with two visiting devotees. The figures on the right of the painting appear to be 17th century while those on the left have been over-painted in the mid-18th century.
